Prof. Anyiekere Ekanem, MBBS, MPH, FMCPH

Prof. Anyiekere Ekanem is Professor of Community Medicine in the Department of Community Medicine, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, College of Health Sciences, University of Uyo, Nigeria. He holds an MBBS, an MPH from the University of Lagos, and a Fellowship of the National Postgraduate Medical College of Nigeria in Community Medicine and Public Health.

He has more than 13 years of experience in the teaching and practice of community medicine and public health, with interests in the epidemiology of communicable and non-communicable diseases, biostatistics, health planning and management, and environmental and occupational health. He teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students and supervises research across public health and environmental health programs.

His administrative and clinical service includes roles as Consultant Community Physician at the University of Uyo Teaching Hospital, antiretroviral therapy coordinator, coordinator of the Infectious Disease Centre at the hospital's Health Research Institute, Pillar Lead for Plans and Research on the Akwa Ibom State COVID-19 Incident Management Committee, and Vice Dean of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences.

He has contributed to national and state level health development assignments including malaria operational planning, primary health care training, and health workforce capacity building, and has published widely in Nigerian and international journals.
