The need this program addresses
The gap between AI and digital health innovation and real-world implementation in public health programs continues to widen, particularly where resources are shrinking. Practitioners are increasingly aware of AI applications but often lack practical understanding of how to integrate these tools into existing health systems, and of when AI adds value compared with simpler solutions. Skills in ethics, data privacy and protection, bias mitigation, and security governance remain in short supply, especially in resource-constrained settings.
What participants will be able to do
- Evaluate the appropriateness and added value of AI and digital health tools within public health programs, applying diffusion of innovation principles and structured decision-making criteria.
- Apply implementation science frameworks, including CFIR and RE-AIM, to assess feasibility, fit, and scalability in diverse and resource-constrained settings.
- Identify risks related to bias, inequity, data privacy, and security, and apply practical data governance and ethical safeguards to mitigate them.
